IMUS: Local plant produces salad dressing named after Don Imus, firing could hurt sales for charity.

NEWFANE— Cases of Don Imus Salad Dressing were readied for shipping Thursday and Friday at Pfeiffer Foods.

Imus, who was fired by WNBC and CBS this week for his racist remarks about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team, has had an organic salad dressing made at the Lake Road plant for about three years.

According to plant manager John Follick, 250 cases were packed on Thursday and another 250 cases were boxed on Friday. It’s a small order.

Follick is aware of Imus’ notoriety after his radio show and said, “My guess it isn’t going to help him any.”

The Imus dressings are made with organic ingredients and sold for charity, Follick said. The flavors are ranch, Caesar and balsamic vinaigrette. All the profits go to the Imus Ranch, a working cattle ranch for children with cancer.

The dressings are sold nationally at several stores, including Linens ‘N Things and Vitamin World. A case of six costs $29.95.

Paul Newman’s dressings have also been bottled at the Wilson plant.
