COUNTY COURT: County burglar sentenced

Medina man gets seven-year prison term

The former Fletcher Chapel Road man accused of burglarizing four Orleans County homes two summers ago has been sentenced to seven years in state prison.

Ronald G. Taylor, 29, of Medina admitted to entering the homes July 3, 5 and 27 with the intent to steal valuable items. He took jewelry, money, a digital camera, documents — and the homeowners’ piece of mind, Orleans County Judge James Punch has said.

In the first incident, he broke through the front door of an Oak Orchard Road home.

“(I) went in and took property,” he said at the time of his last court appearance in May.

Taylor was arraigned in April on the charges of four counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and three counts of petit larceny. He was already in custody at the Clinton County Correctional Facility on a number of other pending felony charges. Taylor’s bail was set in the amount of $50,000 cash or bond.

A few weeks after arraignment, Taylor accepted a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office on the agreement his sentence would run concurrently with his Clinton County felony charges.

Punch sentenced him to the maximum time allowed Monday afternoon — seven years in state prison and three years post-release supervision.

While Taylor is not a second felony offender under the sentence, he does have more than one felony on his record, the district attorney’s office said.

In other county court news:

n Prosecutors made a plea offer to Frederick C. Videan that would have him plead guilty to first-degree rape, a felony punishable by up to 25 years in state prison. The offer will hold until the motion date.

Videan, 46, Genesee Street, Medina, has been charged with four counts of first-degree rape, 50 counts of first-degree sodomy and 54 counts of incest. He was apprehended following an investigation by the Medina Police Department on March 10 and has been held in jail superintendent custody on $20,000 bail.

n A violation of probation arraignment for Shardae A. Hadick, 20, was adjourned. The daughter of Albion Mayor Michael Hadick, she was sentenced to six months local incarceration and five years probation in March. She pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance, admitting she intended to sell 70 bags of crack cocaine.

n Andre L. Jones, 23, of Buffalo was sentenced to five years in state prison and five years post-release supervision. Jones was arraigned on charges of second-degree burglary, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny. He had a number of previous misdemeanor convictions and has been held on $10,000 bail.

n Robert D. Jones, 17, Lyndonville Road, Medina, was sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in state prison, with recommendation for shock camp. Jones pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary Dec. 3, at which time he entered drug court.

n Matthew J. Stamp, 21, South Academy Street, Medina, pleaded guilty to felony fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on the same charge last week. Stamp faces a maximum of 2 1/2 years in state prison. Sentencing is scheduled to take place Oct. 6.

n Alex Inman, 22, West Center Street, Medina, pleaded guilty to seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance as a misdemeanor on a plea bargain to enter drug court. He was one of 10 suspects charged in March’s Medina drug bust.

n Amanda C. Hartman, 30, East Townline Road, Lyndonville, was arraigned on charges of second-degree forgery, third-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. Hartman allegedly forged a check for a significant amount of money.

n Denise Mapp waived extradition from New Jersey. A warrant for her arrest was issued there. Her aliases are Denise A. Mapp, Angela Veeni-Mapp and Connie Martin.
