MEDINA: 400 hours of community service were completed for Scout project.

One troop of local Girl Scouts have recently completed an essential project that has not only benefited themselves, but the Village of Medina, as well.

Tiffany Conners and other members of the Girl Scouts have put in almost 400 hours, 90 of which Conners completed, to receive their gold award. This award is the equivalent to an Eagle Scout for a boy.

While completing their 400 hours, the Girl Scout worked on a project to repaint playground equipment and buildings; install 500 feet of fencing; placed new rocks under the play equipment and restored the canon on State Street.

Conners would like to thank the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Village of Medina, and family and friends — especially Keith White, Cody Brown and Nick Munn.

“This project was a huge undertaking,” said Conners’ mother, Michele, who is also the troop leader. “They donated the time and muscle needed to get the job done. Others donated equipment to have the right tool to do the right job and make the work easier and faster.”

Conners was also thankful to the community for stopping by and supporting her during the project. Conners is currently a junior at Medina High School.

Besides the park clean-up, more than 40 hours were spent running a camp for younger scouts and many badge requirements were met and community services hours were done.
