Medina Journal-Register — Lee-Whedon Memorial Library will host the group Pocket Change at 7 p.m. Friday. This eclectic group draws from a very diverse songlist, playing a range of songs from pop to rhythm and blues to country and even a reggae number or two
Pocket Change boasts some very talented and accomplished musicians. Lead vocalist and band leader Dave Stockton plays six- and seven-string guitars as well as flute. Also a song-writer, Stockton promises to perform an original song at the library’s “Finally Fridays!” performance.
Saxophone player Harry Fackelman teaches saxophone at the University of Buffalo. He toured for many years with the Amherst Saxophone Quartet, and can boast an appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Drummer Jim Linser has been a percussion instructor for over 30 years. He has also co-authored educational drum method books. Rounding out the quartet is Gary Dieboldt on keyboards. Dieboldt is another very accomplished musician and also a music educator, having taught music in public schools for 33 years.
Lee-Whedon is newly renovated with ample seating for this free event. This program is made possible by funding from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. The series is co-sponsored by the Friends of Lee-Whedon Memorial Library.
