Medina Journal-Register — Dave Denny has been named the new administrator at Orchard Manor.
Denny, formerly of Absolut Care in Gasport, started in Medina this past Monday and said he is eager to usher in a new era at he nursing home and rehabilitation center.
“I have been looking to be in a bigger facility,” he said, mentioning the Gasport home has only 83 beds to Orchard Manor’s 160.
“I wanted to expand and spread my wings a little bit,” he said. “If there was going to be a time, this is it, and I like the new challenge.”
So far, Denny said he has liked what he has seen.
“I am very impressed with the staff I have met in my first week and have complete confidence that we will all work together, with the community, to enhance the quality of life for our short term and long term residents,” he said
Of the residents, Denny said he looked forward to meeting all of them.
“Each resident of Orchard Manor has a story to share and I want to hear each and every one of them,” he sated.
Denny noted that he was recruited by Global Health Care to run the day-to-day operations at Orchard Manor.
“It’s a nice place over here with a lot of great people,” Denny said. The future of the facility is bright, he added, hinting at several upcoming projects.
“Global Health Care is going to put some money into this place,” he added, noting the company is “dedicated to making a difference in patient care” and will also spend money on “employee resources.”
Regarding the nursing home’s recent union news, Denny said he is looking forward to a fresh start between management and the employees.
“I’m glad it’s over…I’m sick of the bickering,” he said. “I’ll be opening up more avenues here and I want this facility to become very involved and community oriented.”
Denny described his management style as “interactive, engaging, fair and consistent, never losing sight of the real reason we come to work every day.”
A Ransomville native, Denny has 24 years of administrative experience.
Denny also lived in Alaska and Indiana, before settling in Clarence Center with his wife, Patricia. They have two daughters and one son.
Denny stayed at his previous post for 12 years and said he could envision another long stretch at Orchard Manor because, as he put it, “I don’t like moving around too much.”
