With about 400 jobs going by the wayside in Albion this September, JP Morgan Chase has begun the process of helping to find those employees work in the area.

On Thursday, the Chase call center in Albion hosted an "internal" job fair for employees, during which time they were able to apply for 150 job openings within the company at its Rochester location. According to reports, very few employees will continue on in the same position they held in Albion.

Later this month, on June 26 and June 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Chase facility will host an "external" job fair. At that time, area employers who are looking for workers will be on hand to fill a variety of open positions. Claims Recovery Financial Services, with offices in Albion and Medina, is expected to be among the employers at the fair.

Late last week Chase announced the pending closure of its Albion facility. The employees who work there handle calls regarding mortgages. With the economy on the upswing, fewer homeowners have needed the call center's assistance, which led to fewer employees being needed. Overall, Chase officials will cut between 13,000 and 15,000 jobs nationwide by the end of 2014.

The job fairs are part of Chase's efforts to help its employees by either relocating them within the company or placing them in similar positions with other local companies.

Albion's Chase facility grew in employee numbers late last decade during the housing crisis when banks across the country wound up short-staffed. Chase was one of many that hired new employees to deal with the issue. As part of the larger shutdown, Albion's is the only New York-based facility that will close its doors.

Chase announced cuts were coming to its mortgage division in February.
