Medina Journal-Register — MEDINA — For the second time in as many years, a large former supermarket building is being renovated for new business in the village.

Early in 2012 the former Bells Supermarket building on Maple Ridge Road was renovated to serve as the new home for a Tractor Supply Store. Now the former Super Duper building on East Center Street is likewise being renovated for use as the new home of Ace Hardware.

A March opening and an April Grand Opening are planned for the 23,000 square foot facility, which will provide Ace Hardware with five times the space it has in its current West Avenue location.

Acquistion of the building for the project was aided by the county and the Econoc Development Agency.

“If it wasn’t for the county and the EDA the project wouldn’t have happened,” noted an Ace spokesperson who added that, “this will give us the room to put what customers are demanding for.”

“Restoring a building like this to be a productive part of the community is very positive and is good for the business, good for Medina and good for the entire county,” said County Chief Administrator Officer Charles Nesbitt.
