Medina Journal-Register — The Orleans Home & Garden Show at the Knowlesville fairgrounds was recently the setting for introduction of the fifth heritage book of the Medina Sandstone Society. It has aroused more than average interest because it contains hundreds of contributed items under the title “Fond Memories of Medina.”

The publishing committee of Craig C. Lacy, Mary G. Zangerle and Robert E. Waters commented, “The society has priced the book low to encourage a strong sale, but the income is important since it helps support our annual civic programs.” They said the regular book price is set at $15, but will be cut to $10 for anyone who also becomes an annual Stone Cutter supporter at a fee of $10.

The committee said the general public came forth in heavy numbers to send in “fond memories” to fill the new book. The previous four heritage books are still selling on a consistent basis.

Mary Zangerle, who is the retired director of Lee-Whedon Library and a society board member, said of the MSS book series, “The five heritage books we’ve published have a focus on local history, but each in a very different way. Each has a different tone and mood and topic. We couldn’t have planned a better series for sheer variety in reading.”

The entire series of books is offered at The Book Shoppe downtown and via the Internet at the Sandstone Society web site.
