Medina Journal-Register — ALBANY — New York economic development officials announced Wednesday a new round of more than $700 million in regional economic development incentives, mostly tax breaks, on top of $785.5 million announced last year, all intended to keep or create jobs.

The largest package this year is $96.2 million for 76 projects in the Finger Lakes region. Among them, it lists $5 million for Health Sciences Center for

Computational Innovation, a partnership between the

University of Rochester and IBM; and $5 million for equipment purchases at the recently completed Rochester Institute of Technology’s Golisano Institute examining sustainability in product development.

Takeform Architectural Graphics, will receive $150,000 in Empire State Development funds and $316,000 in Office of Community Renewal funds to aid the business’ expansion. The Mahar Street business’ application was sponsored earlier this year by the Town of Shelby.

Takeform, which manufactures graphic design products for medical campuses and other large-scale clients, plans to move a facility at the Medina Industrial Park Maple Ridge Road facility, being vacated by Trek. The City of Lockport is receiving $516,000 to aid Trek’s expansion at Harrison Radiator in Lockport.

The Village of Holley is receiving $250,000 in Office of Community Renewal for the village’s Public Square Revitalization Program. The program will renovate 11 buildings, providing interior and exterior benefits to 13 commercial, 11 residential units, the village hall. Funds will also go towards streetscape enhancements.

Another $2 million will go to the Pathstone Corporation to fund a small business revolving loan fund for the nine counties in the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council.

Other large packages are $93.8 million for 73 projects in central New York, such as $3.1 million for the Syracuse Community Health Center to establish a center at the former Superior Electric facility.
