Nursing home bidders narrowed

Medina Journal-Register — The results of a meeting this past Friday have put the Orleans County Legislature in position to sell The Villages of Orleans County, possibly by the end of the year.

The board of Orleans County Health Facilities Corporation (LDC) received two qualifying bids in respect to its Request For Proposals on Oct. 16. After conducting site visits and interviews that included Orleans County healthcare professionals and LDC board members, the board met Friday and agreed to pursue a definitive sale agreement with the bidders.

The two bidding groups include a group led by Mordy Lahasky, Benjamin Fuchs and Benjamin Landa with multiple facilities in the Albany, Long Island and New York City areas, while the second group is led by Kenneth Rozenberg with multiple facilities across New York State. Each bidding group has expressed an intention to consider existing employees, continue services for existing residents, maintain important community programs and continue to serve as landlord to the resident county offices.

The board anticipates entering a binding sale agreement in December with a change in the licensed operator as of Dec. 31, 2014. The board has continued to prioritize quality of care issues as directed by the Orleans County Legislature.

It is anticipated the board will meet again in December of this year to approve the final sale agreement.
