Accident kills Lyndonville woman

Medina Journal-Register — A Lyndonville woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday morning at the intersection of Oak Orchard Road and Roosevelt Highway in the town of Carlton.

According to the Orleans County Sheriff's Office, Jessica Artica, 25, was traveling north on Oak Orchard Road when she stopped at the Y intersection, then proceeded into the path of an eastbound Peterbuilt dump truck operated by John Bush, 56, of Waterport.

The truck was traveling south and proceeding east onto Roosevelt Highway. There is no stop sign for southbound drivers on Oak Orchard Road.

Artica was pronounced dead at the scene by Orleans County Coroner Joe Fuller.

Bush, who was not injured, has not been charged. The dump truck is owned by Lynn-Ette and Son Farms of Kent.

The accident remains under investigation, but authorities say alcohol and speed were not a factor in the accident.

Assisting at the scene were the Carlton and Albion fire departments, Central Orleans Volunteer Ambulance and New York State Police DOT inspectors.
