Medina Journal-Register — PITTSFORD — After tallying all the figures, Campground Owners of New York (CONY) recently announced that Medina/Wildwood Lake KOA in Medina, operated by Rob and Rachel Kaiser, raised $2,508 in donations for Camp Good Days and Special Times, as part of CONY’s second annual statewide fundraising event for charity held throughout 2013.
Camp Good Days and Special Times is a New York State-based organization providing camping experiences free of charge to children with cancer. Since its inception, the organization has served more than 42,000 campers from 22 states and 25 foreign countries. This past summer, more than 1,500 children from around the world attended the camp, located on the shores of Keuka Lake. More information is available at www.campgooddays.org.
According to Suzanne Bixby, CONY’s Marketing and Communications Director, the association’s fundraising goal for 2013 was set at $50,000.
“2013 was CONY’s 50th anniversary year as a trade association, so we felt that it would really fire our members up for this second year of fundraising with the rallying cry of ‘$50K in 50,’” she said. “Our hopes and expectations were definitely exceeded this year! We’re grateful to the support of our campgrounds who enthusiastically participate to help this worthy organization.”
With fundraising by CONY campgrounds from across New York State, a combined total of $53,700.00 in checks were presented to by CONY leaders to Camp Good Days and Special Times PAVE Director James McCauley at a special ceremony on Nov. 2 during CONY’s annual conference.
