Medina Journal-Register — The Medina Teachers Association and the Medina Business Association have announced the December selections for Students of the Month. This award is a joint effort between the two organizations to recognize students who go above and beyond to help teachers and fellow students succeed and enjoy school.Creekside Floral sponsored the award for December. This month’s students are being honored with this article and a Certificate of Achievement from the Medina Teachers’ Association presented by President Joseph Byrne. In addition, the presenter from Creekside Floral, Mary Lewis, awarded this month’s winners a lovely box of cookies and a certificate for a free rose from the store.
Nominated by Bridget Schmidt of Oak Orchard was Lilah Class from her kindergarten class. Schmidt stated that Lilah is very respectful and empathetic of others. During play time, she seeks out others to play with her who may not be included. Lilah’s teacher called her a hard worker and said she takes her time to make sure her work is quality. Schmidt added that Lilah loves books and reading.
From the high school, sophomore Ian Winter was nominated by Jeff Dole, who wrote that he sees Ian every day during fifth period for geometry class, and “every day he always asks how my day is.” Dole said Ian is a positive person, and at the end of every class always makes sure to say “have a nice day.” Dole mentioned that Ian is always courteous and polite, and he is always actively involved in the lesson and works to the best of his ability. He added that Ian works well with his peers and is willing to work with anyone in class.
The MTA and the MBA will continue the student of the month program throughout the school year. Posters in the windows of Medina businesses identify them as supporters of this program.
