Medina Journal-Register — The Medina Mustang Marching Band continued their tradition of success Sunday with their fourth-straight class championship at the New York State Field Band Championship.
The competition at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse pitted Medina against seven other bands in the Small Schools 1 Classification. The Mustangs took home the Governor's Cup with a season-high score of 91.7, besting New Hartford (88.85) and East Irondequoit (88.05).
Medina has performed well throughout fall. "Coming Home," a military-themed show, incorporates letters to and from a soldier serving oversees; and closes with a large flag flying over the entire band and color guard to reveal the soldier's return.
Medina's run of four straight championships is the first in school history. The Mustang Band previously won class championships in 1982, 1989, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005,
