Medina Journal-Register — The Medina Mustang Marching Band’s competitive season has begun, with performances the past two weeks.
Sept. 7 at the opening of competition season, Medina traveled to East Irondequoit where the band took first place in the SS1 class with a score of 75.95. East Irondequoit came in second with a 74.40 followed by Leroy in third with a 69.65.
This past Saturday Medina traveled to Jamestown High School. The band was the only school in class SS1, but it eclipsed its previous performance with a score of 81.20.
Saturday is the band’s home show, the Fall Festival of Bands. Twelve bands will compete and UB will perform in exhibition. The gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the show starts at 5:30 p.m. with the National Anthem and introductions. Medina performs at 8:15 p.m. This is evening of family entertainment includes homemade concessions. It is also one of the main opportunities for the community to see Medina’s show, “The Pursuit of Gold” as it celebrates America’s most famous Olympic moments.
