Medina Journal-Register — Military addresses sought

Clute Phillips American Legion Auxiliary Unit 938, Middleport, is seeking complete addresses of military people serving overseas.

The group would like to send a package to those serving, but needs the public’s help in obtaining addresses.

Mail the addresses to Elizabeth Bateman, committee chairman, 11782 Harrison Road, Medina, NY 14103 by Nov. 1.

Vets outreach event slated for Oct. 15

There is a veterans outreach event at Hartland Town Hall on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Outreach Service Officer from the Niagara County Veteran’s Service office will be there to assist veterans in applying for veterans benefits if they are eligible.

To call for an appointment call Cynthia Boyler at (716) 735-7179. Walk-ins are welcome to come to the event, but they may have to make an appointment on a later date at the agency to complete the applications. To see if they are eligible, all veterans must bring a copy of their DD Form 214 (discharge document).

Additional Information will also be available for all veterans.

Lockport author to appear at Comicon

Robert Souliske, a Lockport resident, will appear at Buffalo Comicon on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Souliske has written the book Ancient Darkness, and it has gone national. The story deals with a small band of heroes fighting an ancient evil.

Buffalo Comicon 2013 is at the Marriott Inn on Millersport Highway in Amherst.
