Tigers tame Mustangs

Medina Journal-Register — Defending champion Akron stayed in the thick of the title race by blanking Medina/Lyndonville 4-0 Tuesday in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Improving to 8-1-2, Akron grabbed a 1-0 lead at the half on a goal by Nick Doria with 6:42 remaining.

The Tigers then broke the contest open with a lightning quick goal just 20 seconds into the second half on a goal by Randy Mayer.

Akron, which visits league leading Albion (9-1-1) in the N-O finale this evening, capped off the win with two goals in the last 10 minutes on tallies by Chris Mayrose and Russell Catalano.

Medina/Lyndonville, which slips to 4-6-1, visits Roy-Hart at Gasport at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to close out the N-O season.

Newfane kept pace in the tight three-way title chase by blanking host CSAT 2-0 to improve to 9-1-1 pulling the Panthers even with Albion.

Ryan Doyle scored what proved to be the game winner for Newfane off an assist from Brett Stern.

Patrick Eadie added an insurance tally for the Panthers as Brad Duhow picked up the assist.

Wilson 2, Roy-Hart 1

GASPORT - Jarred Hinkson scored his 10th goal of the season for Roy-Hart in the Rams 2-1 loss to Wilson Tuesday.

Wilson improves to 4-6-1 and Roy-Hart slips to 2-9.

Lyndonville 0, Notre Dame 0

Lyndonville and Notre Dame battled to a 0-0 overtime tie Tuesday in a Genesee Region League game.

Kendall 5, Elba 0

KENDALL - Four different players took turns scoring goals in the first half to power Kendal lto a 5-0 G- win over Elba Tuesday.

Ashley Makowski scored two goals and Kendra LoSapio, Amber Clay and Jamie Smith each netted one for Kendall which finishes the regular season at 12-3-1.
