Medina Journal-Register — LYNDONVILLE - Two new, but very familiar alumni faces, will be guiding Lyndonville’s varsity basketball squads this coming season.
Brian Lang, a 2005 Lyndonville grad, will be coaching the boys squad and Sherri (Stephens) Janas, a 1998 grad, will coach the girls team.
“It’s great to be back,” said Lang. “I’m really excited to be back. It’s an honor to be here and it’s great to be back home.”
It’s really an honor to be here,” agreed Janas. “I’m just really excited. I’ve always wanted to do this.”
Lang’s Tigers team will open the season at home Nov. 30 with a non league game against University Prep of Rochester while Janas’ Lady Tigers will debut that same night at Holley.
“We’ve got a good group and they’re working hard,” said Lang whose Tigers squad is led by the veteran trio of Austin Bane, Joey Sunday and Justin Ottaviano.
“I want to instill in them a hard work ethic and to get them to believe in themselves,” Lang said. “I’m trying to have a positive impact on the program. I’m pumped to be back here.”
The Lyndonville girls squad is led by the veteran quartet of Sierra VanWycke, Hailey Anderson, Alex Harling and Courtney Traxler.
“We’ve got a good returning group and they’re very receptive,” Janas said. “They’re determined to have a good season and they’re excited as I am. The key for us will be to work together as a team.”
