Tigers '9'preps for G-R opener

Medina Journal-Register — LYNDONVILLE — Returning a good nucleus, Lyndonville is prepping for a busy and challenging pair of Genesee Region League baseball openers next week against Notre Dame and Oakfield-Alabama on back-to-back days.

Five regulars anchor the Lyndonville lineup including seniors Austin Bane (infield/pitcher), Eddie Silversmith (first base/pitcher) and Kasey Pounds (infield/pitcher) along with sophomores James Ianni (catcher) and Ty Hrovat (infield/pitcher).

The Tigers roster also includes seniors Jeff Burke (infield/outfield), Cullen Donald (outfield), Jaime Tombari (infield), Christian Bale (catcher) and Brad Smith (outfield); juniors Justin Edwards (outfield/pitcher), Evan Milleville (infield/pitcher) and Jonathan Marciszewski (outfield) and sophomores Brandon Schoolcraft (outfield/pitcher), Austin Buckland (outfield/pitcher) and Chris Scroger (infield/pitcher).

“We have a whole bunch of pitching. We’ve got some solid pitching,” said coach Shane Price. “Hitting is the questionmark and we’ve got to play better defense than we did last year. The key will be to get three or four good innings from who ever we have pitching and we have to win the close ball games.”

The Tigers key losses to graduation include the quartet of Alex Rodriguez (outfield/pitcher), Josh Brabon (outfield/pitcher), Brooks Boyle (pitcher/infield) and Jimmy White (infield/pitcher).

Lyndonville is slated to host CSAT Thursday in a non league contest before opening the G-R campaign at Notre Dame next Monday and then entertaining Oakfield-Alabama on Tuesday.
