Medina Journal-Register — All eight schools are presented on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League softball squad.
Newfane, which captured the N-O championship with a 13-1 record, heads the first team with a trio of selections in pitcher Alexis Moreland, infielder Katie Shaw and outfielder Shannon Shaw, all seniors.
Allbion is represented on the first team by senior infielder Sarah Papponetti and freshman catcher Kelsee Soule.
Medina has placed the senor duo of infielder Stormi Kruger and outfielder Olivia Hermann.
Roy-Hart is represented by senior infielder Brianna Walker and junior catcher Sam Brown and Akron by the senior duo of pitcher Alexis Kidder and infielder Hayley Klumpp.
Rounding out the first team are Wilson senior pitcher Lindsay Bryer, Barker junior infielder Olivia Denny and CSAT senior infielder Michelle Maloney.
Moreland went 10-2 on the mound for Newfane with 72 strikeout and a 2.36 era. At the plate she hit .341 with three home runs and 11 RBIs. Katie Shaw hit .291 with three triples and 24 RBIs and Shannon Shaw .358 with five doubles, one triple and 11 RBIs.
Papponetti hit .494 for Albion with five doubles, two triples, 15 stolen bases and 18 RBIs. Soule hit .480 with nine doubles, one triple, five home runs, 17 toluene bases and 36 RBIs.
Kruger hit .509 with four home runs and 21 RBIs and Hermann batted .492 with two home runs, 11 stolen base,s 21 runs scored and 12 RBIs.
Brown hit .451 for Roy-Hart with eight double, three triples and 18 RBIs. Walker hit .309 with three doubles, two triples and 11 RBIs. On the mound, she had 66 strikeout and a 2.05 era.
Kidder hit .364 and Klumpp .308 for Akron.
Denny hit .418 with two doubles, two triples, 21 stolen bases and 10 RBIs.
Bryer hit .394 with three doubles, two home runs, nine RBIs while on the mound she had 86 strikeouts. She finishes as Wilson’s all-time career strikeout leader with 426.
Maloney hit .244 with three doubles and 13 RBIs for CSAT.
