Albion senior earns All-WNY softball honors

Medina Journal-Register — Albion High School senior shortstop Sarah Papponetti has been named to the first team of the annual All-Western New York softball squad.

A four year varsity starter and a two-time first team Niagara-Orleans All-League honoree, Papponetti hi .494 this season with 5 doubles, 3 triples, 15 stolen bases and 18 RBIs.

“Sarah is a leader on and off the field with everything she does,” said Albion coach Gary Parisi. “Sarah is a great example for young kids in the community and helps at many youth camps.”

Papponetti will be attending Nazareth College and will play softball.

Two other local players, Medina senior shortstop Stormi Kruger and Roy-Hart junior catcher Sam Brown, both earned honorable mention on the All-Western New York Squad.

Both first team N-O All-League honorees, Kruger hit .509 and drove in 21 runs this season while Brown hit .451 with 18 RBIs.
