Makowski will play at GCC

Medina Journal-Register — Kendall High senior Ashley Makowski has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Genesee Community College this fall.

Makowski, a two-time first team Genesee Region League All-Star scored 13 goals and added seven assists for the Eagles her senior year.

A member of the National Honor Society, Makowski plans on majoring in Vet Tech at GCC.

Urbanik at FLCC

Lyndonville High graduate Kenny Urbanik is vying for a starting outfield position on the Finger Lakes Community College baseball team. He is a freshman member of the Lakers diamond squad.

Stickmen snowed out

A couple of inches of snow covering the Vets Park turf Saturday forced the postponement of the Lockport at Medina varsity lacrosse game.

Medina is now slated to open the Class C Division campaign at home against Wilson at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Vets Park. The Mustangs then face another key Class C contest at Amherst at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

“This is a big week for us,” said Medina coach Gordy Luthart. “This week will tell us where we are.”
