Hawks go 5-3 at Holley Duals

HOLLEY - The host Hawks posted a 5-3 record at the very competitive Holley Duals over the weekend.

Brockport emerged as the tourney champion by virtue of a tie breaker over Hilton and Webster Schroeder as all three teams finished with 7-1 records.

In the head-to-head match-ups, Hilton defeated Webster Schroeder 49-24, Brockport downed Hilton 49-29 and Webster Schroeder bested Brockport 39-28.

Holley lost to Hilton 53-23, to Brockport 54-21 and to Webter Schroeder 44-31.

The Hawks defeated McQuaid 72-9, Wilson Magnet 70-9, Amherst 49-28, Alden 78-5 and Greece 41-36.

Three Hawks earned All-Tournament team honors including Andrew Flanagan, Sam Beadle and Mike Silvis. Flanagan and Silvis both went 8-0 for the two-day tournament and Beadle 7-1.

Holley also had Martin Beadle go 7-1, Nick Winkley 6-1, Alan White 5-2 and Kevin Avery 5-3.

Medina has champ

at Sweet Home Tourney

AMHERST - Medina High senior Matt Montesanti won the 285 pound weight class at the Sweet Home Tournament Saturday going 3-0 with three pins.

The Mustangs also had Rob Wendt place second, Nick Erway third, Joe Velez and Ben Howell fourth and Brennen Callara fifth.

Akron Tournament

AKRON - Lyndonville’s Tony Recco (106) took a first place at the Akron Tournament Saturday going 4-0 including three first period pins.

Lyndonville, which finished seventh in the 17 team tourney, also had Dustin Hinkley (120) place second and Tom Follman (132) third.

Albion’s Greg Blank placed second.

Barker had Lukas Hanssen win at 285 and Brent Bachman place third at 99.

Roy-Hart’s Cameron Swick placed second at 99 and Newfane’s Nate Martin was second at 138.

Host Akron, which placed third as a team, had Matt Fiebelkorn win at 113 and Garrett Schultz place second at 152.
