Medina Journal-Register — LYNDONVILLE — A late comeback bid fell just short as Lyndonville dropped a narrow 31-27 decision to Attica Wednesday in a Genesee Region League girls basketball game.

Battling back from a disastrous four point first half and from as much as a 17 point third quarter deficit, Lyndonville did rally back to within three in the final minute but could get no closer.

Abigail Kamysz scored a game high 10 points to lead a parade of 10 point getters for Attica.

Sierra VanWycke scored eight for Lyndonville as Jenna Castricone and Abigail Feldman both added five and Courtney Traxler and Alex Harling four.

Attica built up leads of 6-2 after one quarter, 14-4 at the half and by as many as 17 at 21-4 early in the third quarter before Lyndonville began to rally.

Baskets by Traxler and Harling followed by a three-point play by Feldman keyed a 9-3 Lyndonville run to close the third period pulling the Lady Tigers within 11 at 24-13.

Keeping the momentum, Lyndonville then put together a 14-6 stretch run to slice the deficit to three at 30-27. Three straight jumpers by VanWycke and a three by Castricone highlighted that comeback bid which fell just short.
