Medina Journal-Register — ALBION — A big third quarter scoring surge keyed Barker to s 66-47 victory over Albion Tuesday in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball game.
In other N-O action, Akron downed visiting Medina 39-31, Newfane bested rival Wilson 71-42 and CSAT defeated visiting Roy-Hart 70-44 to open up two game league lead.
CSAT stays perfect at 7-0 at the half-way point of the N-O season as Akron, Newfane and Roy-Hart are now all deadlocked for second place at 5-2.
Leading by a narrow 35-30 margin at the half, Barker used a big 17-4 third period uprising to break the game open.
Mitch Luckman scored 11 of his game high 22 points to spearhead that surge.
Jacob Haight tallied 19 of his 21 points to spark Barker in the first half. He tallied eight in the third period and 11 more in the second.
Chris Sweeney added 10 points for Barker which improves to 3-4.
Freddie Koester scored 13, Tre Allport 10 and Marquise Riddick and Ryan Fannin eight each for Albion which drops to 1-6.
Akron 39, Medina 31
AKRON - Trailing 7-4 after one quarter, Akron rallied into narrow leads of 19-14 at the half and 28-26 at the three-quarter mark in route to the 39-31 win over Medina.
Connor Lad scored 12 and Austin Mietz eight for Akron.
Lonnie Taylor and Jason Hellwig each scored eight, Dan Brown seven and Ryan Thompson six for Medina which drops to 1-6.
CSAT 70, Roy-Hart 44
BUFFALO - Darnell Carson scored 20 to lead the way for CSAT which clicked on 11 threes in posting the 70-44 win over Roy-Hart.
Brad Bobbitt scored 16 for Roy-Hart which led 11-10 after one period.
However, CSAT rallied into leads of 33-24 at the half and 48-35 at the three-quarter mark. The Eagles then used a 22-9 fourth quarter to close out the win.
Newfane 71, Wilson 42
NEWFANE - Connor Sears scored 17, Reid Weber 16 and Josh Kneeland 13 to spark the attack for Newfane in the win over rival Wilson.
The Panthers held narrow leads of 16-14 after one quarrier and 30-26 at the half before opening up a little breathing room at 51-37 after a 21-11 third period sure. Jake O’Keefe hit back-to-back threes and Weber tallied seven points to lead that upbringing.
Newfane then capped off the win with a 20-5 fourth quarter scoring surge.
Liam McIntosh scored 13 and Kyle Bradley 10 for Wilson which slips to 1-6.
