Medina Journal-Register — Boasting an early pre season roster of some 30 grapplers, the Medina High wrestling squad is prepping for the upcoming Niagara-Orleans League season.

Senior Matt Montesanti, who captured both N-O and Section VI titles and went on to place sixth at the stature meet, heads Medina’s veteran contingent which also includes seniors Adam Eick, Rob Wendt, Stormi Kruger; juniors Ben Howell, Jessie Tabor; sophomores Nick Doberstein and Nick Erway and eighth grader Brennen Callara.

“I’m really pleased with our numbers,” coach Eric Gross said. ‘It will be the first time in years that we’ve been able to fill all the weight classes and have a good group of JVs. We’re looking for them to gain some positive experience.”

The key loss to graduation was Tristan Hamner, a five time N-O champion who placed third at the state meet last year.

Medina opens the season by hosting Kendall in a non leg meet on Nov. 29. The Mustangs will then compete at the Clarence Duals on Dec. 1 before visiting Barker in the N-O opener on Dec. 5.
