Purple Eagle cagers face rebuilding task

Medina Journal-Register — ALBION - Having lost five of their top six players to graduation the Albion Purple Eagles face a rebuilding task this season.

Senior Marquise Riddick is the lone returning regular for the Purple Eagles whose graduation losses included Nick Santos, Ryan Golden, Travis Downs, Elliott Foos and Jack Nenni.

Seniors Fred Koester and Tre Allport return with some varsity experience for the Purple Eagles whose line up also includes seniors Shaun Whittier, Chandler Thigpen and Jackson Hamilton along with juniors Connor Barleben, Andrew Burroughs, John Krieger, Chris Rivers, Ryan Fannin, Quincy Byrd and Chris Trevino.

“We’re really going to have to play very good defense and hit the boards strong as we’re not a very strong team offensively,” coach Charlie Croff said.

The Purple Eagles will host Burgard on Dec. 12 and visit Alexander on Dec. 17 before opening the Niagara-Orleans League season at Akron on Dec. 21.
