Medina Journal-Register — The Medina U10 Fillies survived a last inning scare to nip visiting Warsaw 12-11 this past week in the opening round of the league playoffs but the U14 Fillies dropped a narrow 6-5 decision to visiting Grand Island.
Bouncing back after giving up six runs in the top of the seventh inning, the U10 Fillies scored three runs in the home half of the frame to edge Warsaw and advance in the playoffs.
Camri King and Morgan Allis both had two hits in the game for the Fillies as Laci Kenward, Grace Hughes, Brooklyn Brown and Chloe Stinson each had one.
In the U14 contest, a four run fourth inning on three hits and two errors keyed the win for Grand Island.
The Fillies had grabbed an early lead by scoring twice in the second inning on a double by Stacie Buckland and singles by Tabitha Golda, Skyler Smith and Katie Baker.
A triple by Alisha Scroger and a sacrifice by Natalie DiCureia plated two more runs for the Fillies in the fifth inning. A single by Carli Bogue started the uprising.
The Fillies got a rally going in the seventh as a single by Scorger, a walk and a sacrifice by Buckland plated a run but the potential tying run was left stranded on base.
