Veteran Lady Rams eyes strong run at title

Medina Journal-Register — MIDDLEPORT — Coming off three straight second place finishes, Roy-Hart returns its lineup virtually intact with which to make a strong run at the Niagara-Orleans League softball championship this spring.

The battery of senior pitcher Brianna Walker and junior catcher Sam Brown, who both earned first team N-O All-League honors last spring, along with the sophomore infield duo of second baseman Hannah Rausch and shortstop Ashley Bower, who were both second team All-League honorees, head Roy-Hart’s large veteran contingent.

That group also includes senior third baseman Ariana Henley, sophomore pitcher/outfielder Taylor Fry, junior utility player Courtney VanBuren and sophomore outfielder Lindsay Yates.

The Lady Rams lineup also includes juniors Ashley Miller (outfield), Alexis Bruning (utility), Bridgette Riely (utility) and sophomore Madi Hiddie (utility).

‘We’ve got nine starters back so we’re looking to win the league,” said coach Lee Walker. “We’ve got the pitching, the defense and the hitting. The sky is the limit for us. The key is just putting it together.”

Roy-Hart has finished in the runner-up position behind champion Albion each of the last three years. The Lady Rams went 11-3 in N-O competition last spring.
