Medina Journal-Register — ALBION - Anchored by a core of returning All-League meet place finishers, Albion is prepping for the Niagara-Orleans boys track opener April 18 at Wilson.

Junior Justyn Haines, who won the pole vault and senior Marquise Riddick who placed second in the 400 hurdles and 4th in the triple jump at the All-League meet, heads that veteran group.

That contingent also includes junior Josh Girvion (3rd in pole vault), senior Brett Rosato (5th in 3200) and senior Colby Baney (6th in 1600).

The trio of Rosato, Baney and senior Shawn Deibel, who all earned All-League cross-country honors last fall, gives the Purple Eagles a strong distance contingent.

The Purple Eagles are also counting on veterans Allen Sanford, a senior in the hurdles; juniors Kollin Reynolds and Mike Eldred in the throws, sophomore Desmond Blackmon in the jumps and sophomore Jacob Squicciarini in the sprints.

“We’re hoping to be competitive,” said coach Wayne Wadhams. “We should be good in the pole vat, ups and distance events.”

Albion, which posted a 4-2 N-O record last spring, is scheduled to open the league campaign at Wilson on April 18.
