Rainy interruption

Medina Journal-Register — The races for the Niagara-Orleans League softball and tennis titles were interrupted by rain showers Wednesday afternoon.

The washed out slate of softball games including the Albion and Medina contest which is tentatively rescheduled for May 2. 

The rained out tennis matches included Barker at Medina and Albion at Roy-Hart.

The defending N-O champion Medina netters are currently at 2-0 with now three matches to make up. Barker is in the runner-up spot at 3-1 followed by Roy-Hart at 2-1, Wilson at 3-2 and Albion at 2-2.

In the N-O softball title race, Roy-Hart stands alone at the top of the standings at 4-0 after downing defending champion Albion 8-4 on Tuesday. The Lady Rams received some help that afternoon as Akron handed Newfane its first loss 3-0. Newfane is now 4-2, Akron 2-1 with two games to make up and Medina and Wilson both at 2-2. The loss to Roy-Hart dropped Albion to 2-3.

Rapidly heading to the halfway point of the N-O baseball season, defending champion Albion and Akron are deadlocked for first place at 4-1. Wilson is close behind at 3-1 and Medina is at 3-2.

Akron has won four straight since dropping an opening day 10-3 decision to Albion. The Tigers wins also include a 10-1 victory over Wilson.

Albion slated to visit Roy-Hart (0-3) today while Medina entertains Barker (2-3) in a 7 p.m. contest. Today’s other games have CSAT (0-4) at Wilson and Newfane (2-3) at Akron.

The N-O track title races also resume today with Albion at Roy-Hart, Medina at Akron and Barker at Newfane.

The N-O boys track standings has Albion at 2-0 and defending champion Barker at 1-0 with Medina, Akron and Wilson all at 1-1.

The girls track standings has Akron at 2-0 and Barker 1-0 with defending champion Albion, Medina and Wilson are all 1-1.
