Tigers bow in home-court opener

Medina Journal-Register — LYNDONVILLE - Exploding out to a commanding 22 point first quarter lead, University Prep of Rochester went on to defeat Lyndonville 87-57 Friday in the host Tigers non league season opener.

Qullian Leach scored eight of his 18 points, Jordan Marshall six of his game high 25 and Cameron Myles five of his 16 in the decisive opening period to spark Prep out to a 28-6 lead. Half of the Griffins buckets during that stretch came off turnovers.

Austin Bane scored 19 on the night and Brandon Schoolcraft 11 to lead Lyndonville. Patrick Hinkson added eight, Ty Hrovat six, Evan Milleville five, Phillip Greshman four and Musa Mansur and Robet Hopper two each for the Tigers.

Marshall tallied 12 in the second period to keep Prep up by 23, 47-24, at the half.

Marique Simkin then netted nine of this 16 in the third period to boost the Griffins advantage to 67-36 at the three-quarter mark.

Bane tallied seven in the second period and eight in the fourth for the Tigers as Hinkson also netted eight in he final stanza.

Lyndonville next visits Webster Christian on Tuesday. The Tigers then host Barker on Friday.
