Medina spikers outlast Newfane

Medina Journal-Register — A marathon overtime win in the decisive fourth set earned Medina a 25-16, 25-21, 14-25, 29-27 victory over visiting Newfane Thursday in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match.

Jessica Rosenbeck served up the set and match winning 28th and 29th points in the fourth set to boost Medina’s N-O record to 6-4. She also had 16 assists on the night.

Alba Perez also served up a total of six points for the Mustangs in the final set.

Abby Button had seven spiking kills for the Mustangs as Jenna Carpenter and Nakisha Jones both added five.

The loss drops Newfane to 3-6.

Field Hockey

Akron 4, Medina 0

AKRON — Alisha Bell, Jenna Perry, Cate Kelkenberg and Tracey Johnston took turns scoring the gals as Akron downed Medina 4-0 Thursday to improve to 5-2 in N-O field hockey action.

The loss drops Medina to 0-7-1.

Kenmore 2, Roy-Hart 1

KENMORE — A goal in the final two minutes earned Kemore (7-1) a narrow 2-1 win over Roy-Hart (4-4).

Paige Flynn scored the goal for Roy-Hart.

Newfane 3, Wilson 0

NEWFANE — Leah Burns, Morgan Bedford and Lauren Dechambeau each scored a goal to spark Newfane (2-5-1) to a 3-0 win over rival Wilson (1-7).

Barker 8, Buffalo Seminary 0

Kayla Moeller and Kim Zaepfel each scord two goals to lead Barker past Buffalo Seminary 8-0 in a non league game Wednesday.
