Medina Journal-Register — LYNDONVILLE — A pressure keyed late scoring burst rallied Kendall to a 34-31 victory over Lyndonville Tuesday in a Genesee Region League game.
Trailing 29-25, Kendall put together a late turnover aided 9-0 run highlighted by a three and a jumper by Ashley Makowski to rally into the lead for good at 34-29.
Makowski finished with a game high 16 points as Shelby Reis added eight, Nicole Browe six and Abbey Davis and Taylor Kingsbury two each for the Lady Eagles.
Sierra VanWycke and Jenna Castricone each scored eight for Lyndonville. Cheyenne Button added five, Haley Anderson four and Madison Gardepe and Courtney Traxler three each for the Lady Tigers.
Three point baskets by Button, Gardepe and Castricone sparked Lyndonville out to a 11-9 lead after one quarter.
Consecutive baskets by Anderson, Castricone and VanWycke to open the second period helped Lyndonville maintain a 19-15 lead at the half.
However, Kendall came battling back to take a 25-24 lead at the three-quarter mark after a late 7-0 run which included a three by Makowski and a jumper by Browe.
Lyndonville did regain a 29-25 lead early in the final period after a jumper by VanWycke and three free throws by Castricone but the Lady Tigers could not find the range again as Kendall answered with the key 9-0 run to claim the victory.
