Medina Journal-Register — Opening the season on a high note, Medina swept past visiting Roy-Hart Thursday in a Niagara-Orleans League track meet.
Medina won the boys meet 107-34 and the girls competition 72-65.
Forrest Harper was a triple winner in the 100, 200 and high jump and Nick Zagmester doubled in the 1,600 and 3,200 to lead the Medina boys squd.
The Mustangs also had James Soha win the 400 hurdles, Patrick Roberts the 800, Barry Rogenmoser the long jump and Matt Cochrane the triple jump.
Sweeping the three relay events, Medina had Rogenmoser, Harper, Ben McPherson and Scott Barber in the 400; Zagmester, Soha, Roberts and Derek Donley in the 1,600 and Zagmester, Roberts, Anthony Pane and Ryan Leffler in the 3,200.
Clayton Smith was a double winner in the shot-put and discus for Roy-Hart which also got wins by Kyle Shanahan (100 hurdles), Jared Hinskon (400) and Ben Werth (pole vault).
The Medina girls squad was led by Holly Heil who was a triple winner in the 800, 1,500 and 3,000 and by Taylor Miller who doubled in the long jump and triple jump.
The Mustangs also took the 400 relay with Cassie Sargent, Madeline Winters, Stella Russo and Rowan Hamner and the 3,200 relay with Kyle Leno, Brooke Wheatley, Heil and Martha Gardner.
Emma Lindke was a triple winner for Roy-Hart in the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and high jump as Paige Flynn doubled in the 100 and 200 and Liz Offhaus in the shot-put and discus.
Albion 91, Wilson 50 (boys)Albion 90, Wilson 50 (girls)
WILSON — Albion likewise opened the season with a sweep over Wilson by the nearly identical scores of 91-50 for the boys and 90-50 in the girls.
Marquise Riddick was a triple winner in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and triple jump for the Albion boys which also got double wins from Jacob Squicciarini (100, 200) and Colby Baney (800, 1,600) as well as a winning vault of 13-0 by Justyn Haines in the pole vault.
