Irish rally past Lady Tigers

Medina Journal-Register — LYNDONVILLE - Capitalzing on a rash or errors and one big home run, Notre Dame rallied to defeat Lyndonville 16-10 Friday in a wind swept Genesee Region League softball game.

Trailing 9-6, Notre Dame took advantage of six Lyndonville errors and a grand slam home run by Stephanie Pingrey to explode for nine runs in the sixth inning and claim the victory.

Lyndonville jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after two innings and were up 9-6 heading into the sixth frame.

Rebekah Hoffee had three hits including a double and Maddy Boyle two to lead the way for the Lady Tigers.

Lyndonville, which next visits Pembroke today, is now 3-1 in the league and 6-2 overall.

Frozen Out

Strong winds and temperatures in the 30’s caused the postponement of Saturday’s slate of Niagara-Orleans League softball games including Albion at Medina, Roy-Hart at Newfane and Akron at Wilson.
