Medina Journal-Register — NEWFANE - The Niagara-Orleans League softball title chase became a tight three-way battle Tuesday as Newfane knocked Roy-Hart from the ranks of the unbeaten by a 5-2 margin.
Newfane is now at 7-1, Roy-Hart 6-1 and Akron, a 8-5 wnner of Medina, is at 5-1.
A triple by Katie Shaw highlighted a four run first inning scoring burst for Newfane.
Alexis Moreland pitched the Lady Panthers to the win scattering six hits and striking out two.
Morgan Bedford also banged out a single and triple for Newfane.
Akron 8, Medina 5
Akron used a four run sixth inning highlighted by a two-run triple by Morgan Carberry, to key an 8-5 win over Medina Tuesday at Vets Park.
Jessica Rosenbeck had a solo home run and an RBI single for Medina. Stormi Kruger and Olivia Hermann also both had two hits for the Mustangs.
Medina slips to 4-3Medina 10, CSAT 7
BUFFALO - Taking charge with a six run third inning, Medina went on to defeat CSAT 10-7 Monday.
A three-run single by Kelsey Evoy capped off the decisive uprising with also included an RBI triple by Jenn Molisani, a double by Rosenbeck and singles by Emma Fish and Arden Zavitz.
Fish and Rosenbeck both finished with a total of three hits as Kruger, Zavitz, Evoy and Olivia Hermann each chipped in with two.
Akron 4, Albion 3
AKRON - Two error aided fourth inning runs provided the margin of victory for Akron Monday in the narrow 4-3 win over Albion.
Alexis Kidder scattered eight hits and struck out seven for Akron while Albion hurler Kelsee Soule allowed only two hits and struck out four.
Sarah Papponetti and Jessica Grimes both had two hits for Albion as Soule, Halle Jurs, Meghan Hurle and Kelsi O’Hearn each added one.
Newfane 10, Barker 3
BARKER - Katie Shaw pitched a three hitter with six strikeouts to spark Newfane past Barker 10-3 Monday.
