Medina 12, Akron 10 (8)

AKRON - Medina pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning on a two-out, two run double by Dan Barnes to nip Akron 12-10. A single by Jason Hellwig and a walk set up the decisive threat.

Matt Riemer then retired Akron in order in the bottom of the eight, including two strikeouts, to preserve the Mustangs victory.

Earlier, Medina had to come-frm-behind twice. First, the Mustangs erased a 2-1 deficit with two runs in the third on a double by Sam Crowley and singles by Zach Newton and Barnes. Later, the Mustangs erased a 9-6 deficit by scoring three runs in the sit on RBI singles by Tyler Colonna and Riemer and an error.

Medina grabbed a 10-9 lead with a run in the top of the seventh on a two out RBI single by Josh Scorger but Akron quickly retied the contest with a tally in the home half of the frame on a wild pitch.

Newton finished with a total of three hits as Hellwig, Barnes and Jake Cotriss each had two.

Akron had nipped Medina 2-1 in an earlier season meeting at Vets Park.
