Lancers rally past Tigers

Medina Journal-Register — LYNDONVILLE - Taking charge in the third quarter, Elba posted a 57-42 victory over Lyndonville Thursday in a Genesee Region League game.

Trailing 30-28 at the half, Elba used a big 16-5 third period scoring edge to move on top to stay.

Kyle Morse scored six and Dan Scott four to lead that uprising which vaulted the Lancers into a 44-35 lead at the three-quarter mark.

Morse tacked on seven more points in the fourth quarter and Nate Jonathan four to lead Elba’s 13-7 run which closed out the win.

Morse finished with a game high 21 points and Jonathan 14 as Scott and Brandon Naylor both aded eight and Jesse Pflaumer six.

Austin Bane, who was plagued by foul trouble, led Lydonville with 16. Phillip Gresham added seven Patrick Hinkson six, Justin Edwards five, Evan Milleville four, Ty Hrovat three and Musa Mansur one for the Tigers.

Before running into foul trouble, Bane poured in 12 points in the first quarter including a pair of three’s to spark Lyndonville out to a 20-17 lead. Back-to-back three’s by Bane and Hrovat gave the Tigers what proved to be their biggest lead of 17-11 late in the period.

Three’s by Gresham and Hinkson in the second quarter helped to keep Lyndonville on top 30-28 at the half.

However, Elba answered back with a 16-5 third period surge to rally for the victory.

The loss drops Lyndonville to 0-2, 0-5 overall.
