Medina Journal-Register — Jumping out to a big early 6-0 lead, Albion cruised to a 13-0 victory over Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game at Vets Park Monday.

Steven Stauss and John Warne both banged out three hits for Albion which had a total of 13 base raps. John Page, Jack Narburgh and Ed Narburgh each chipped in with two hits. Stauss, Warne and Ed Narbugh all had triples. Stauss drove in a total of four runs and Warne three.

“We really brought the sticks today,” Albion coach Bruce Blanchard said. “We didn’t hit well at all in our previous game so I challenged our hitters and they responded. That’s the best we’ve hit all season.”

Connor Barleben picked up the win on the mound for the Purple Eagles allowing only one hit with nine strikeouts in six innings of work.

“Connor threw a nice game. He threw strikes and got ahead of the hitters,” Blanchard said.

Albion quickly moved on top to stay by scoring twice in the first inning on a single by Warne and a double by Stauss. Page triggered that scoring burst with a lead-off single.

Keeping the momentum, Albion tacked on four more runs in the second on back-to-back RBI triples by Ed Narburgh and Warne, a fielders choice play and an error.

“We jumped out early and that was what we wanted to do,” Blanchard said. “That was big getting the early lead.”

Stauss and Jack Narburgh both banged out RBI singles to highlight a three-run fourth inning.

Stauss then capped off a four-run fifth inning uprising with a two-run triple. Singles by Warne and Barleben plated the first two runs.

Zach Newton had Medina’s lone hit with a third inning single.

Albion improves to 3-1 and Medina slips to 3-2.

In the JV game, Albion pitcher Austin Lloyd threw a perfect game with 15 strikeouts in a 15-0 win over Medina.

Albion 8, CSAT 3

ALBION - Trailing 3-1, Albion rallied for seven runs in the fifth inning to defeat CSAT 8-3 Tuesday.

A home run by Paige ignited the decisive inning for Albion which also included a two-run single by Stauss, a two-run double by John Krieger and an RBI single by Jack Narburgh.

Newfane 4, Roy-Hart 1

NEWFANE - Josh Kneeland struck out 17 and scattered five hits to lead Newfane (32-3) past Roy-Hart (0-2) 4-1 Monday.

Zach LaJoie had two hits and Will Newton a two-run double to lead the offense for the Panthers.

Akron 10, Wilson 1

Tommy James fired a three hitter with nine strikeouts to led Akron (3-1) past Wilson (3-1) 10-1 on Monday. James also banged out three hits and drove in three runs.

Mitchell Schultz also had three hits for the Tigers and Connor Riggs and Austin Mietz both added two including a triple.

Akron 5, Roy-Hart 2

AKRON - Bunching all five runs into a big fifth inning rally, Akron (4-1) topped Roy-Hart (0-3) on Tuesday.

Connor Riggs had a two-run singles and Mitchell Schultz an RBI single to lead the Akron rally.

Barker 11, CSAT 10

Barker (2-3) rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to nip CSAT (0-3)11-10.

Singles by Tim Flint and Tanner Gregory plated the first two runs of the decisive rally as an outfield error allowed in the tying and winning runs.

Zach Shaft had three hits including a triple and Tyler Gregory two hits for the Raiders. Tyler Gregory also came on to pitch the seventh inning getting the three game clinching outs on six pitches.

Lyndonville 13, Byron-Bergen 0

BERGEN - Austin Bane scattered five hits and struck out nine to lead Lyndonville to a 13-0 Genesee Region League victory over Byron-Bergen Tuesday.

Bane, Justin Edwards, Eddie Silversmith and Chris Scroger each had two hits for Lyndonville which broke the game open with six runs in the fourth.

Lyndonville is now 4-1 in the league and 6-1 overall.
