Lady Rams post key win over Purple Eagles

Medina Journal-Register — MIDDLEPORT - Staying perfect at 4-0, Roy-Hart scored an 8-4 victory over defending champion Albion Tuesday in a key Niagara-Orleans League softball game.

Trailing 4-3, Roy-Hart regained the lead for good by scoring twice in the third inning on a two-run double by Lindsay Yates. Two walks and a single by Sam Brown loaded the bases to set up the threat.

The Lady Rams quickly built the lead to 7-4 by tacking on two more runs in the fourth on a single by Kayla Brown and an error.

Albion grabbed the lead twice early at 2-0 and 4-3. Sarah Papponetti singled and came home on an error in the first inning and then banged out an RBI single in the second. Shannan Wells then had a two-run double in the top of the third for the Purple Eagles after a single by Kelsee Soule, a walk and a bunt single by Kelse Schmitt loaded the bases.

Kayla Brown, Fry and Yates each finished with two hits for Roy-hart as did Papponetti and Meghan Hurley for Albion which slips to 2-3.

Medina 16, Barker 12

A home run by Olivia Hermann and a triple by Jenn Molisani highlighted the Medina attack in the 16-12 win over Barker at Vets Park.

Stormi Kruger had a total of three hits and Molisani and Jessica Rosenbeck two each for Medina which scored five quick runs in the first inning and then four more in both the second and fourth frames.

Medina is now 2-2 and Barker 2-3.

Roy-Hart 13, Akron 1

AKRON - Brianna Walker hurled a four hitter with seven strikeouts to lead Roy-Hart (3-0) past Akron (1-1) 13-1 Monday.

Sam Brown had four hits and Walker three to lead the Lady Rams at the plate as Hannah Rausch and Arianna Henley both added two hits.

Roy-Hart broke the game open with five runs in the third inning.

Newfane 4, Wilson 1

Newfane (4-0) scored three times in the seventh inning to down rival Wilson (1-2) 4-1 Monday.

Winning pitcher Alexis Moreland, Sam Shimerhorn and Gabby Sinnott each had RBI hits on the day for Newfane.

On the mound, Moreland allowed four hits and struck out four.

Wilson hurler Lindsay Bryer struck out 10 and allowed only four hits.

Barker 11, CSAT 7

Winning pitcher Kelsey Blackley registered 11 strikeouts to lead Barker (2-2) past CSAT (0-5) 11-7.

Olivia Denny had three hits including a triple with three RBIs and Abby Heitzenriter added two hits for Barker.

Wilson 17, CSAT 5

Alyssa DiCesare drove in four runs, Kelly Secor had four hits and three RBIs and Ali Bubar a home run and a double to lead Wilson (2-2) past CSAT (0-6) 17-5.

Pembroke 22, Lyndonville 7

PEMBROKE - Alyssa Houseman and Jenna Castricone had home runs for Lyndonville in a 22-7 Genesee Region League loss to Pembroke Modnay.
