Medina Journal-Register — ALBION - Trailing 3-2, Albion erupted for five runs on six straight hits with two out in the second inning to key a 19-10 victory over Medina Thursday in a Niagara-Orleans League game.
Two out singles by Shannan Wells, Jessica Grimes and Sarah Papponetti loaded the bases to set up Albion’s key rally. Meghan Hurley followed with a a three-run double and winning pitcher Kelsee Soule and Halle Jurs both added run producing singles.
Keeping the momentum, Albion quickly added six more runs in the third inning to up the lead to 13-3. Wells, Grimes and Erika Edwards all had RBI singles.
Wells and Hurley both finished with three hits as Griems and Pappoinetti both had two.
Emma Fish had four hits for Medina including a triple during a two-run first inning and a two-run single during a four run seventh.
Soule had 10 strikeouts.
Both teams are now 4-5 in N-O action.
Lyndonville 5, Byron-Bergen 3
Lyndonville pushed across two runs in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Madison Gardepe and an error to edge past Byron-Bergen 5-3 in a Genesee Region League game.
Maddy Boyle hurled a three hitter with 11 strikeouts for Lyndonville.
Gardepe, Alyssa Houseman and Sierra VanWycke each had two hits. Houseman’s hits included a triple and Gardepe and VanWycke both had doubles.
