Mustangs end N-O drought

Medina Journal-Register — WILSON - Snapping a season long five league game losing streak, Medina downed Wilson 58-44 Friday in a Niagara-Orleans boys basketball contest.

In other N-O action, front-running CSAT (6-0) defeated Akron (4-2) 45-35, Roy-Hart improved to 5-1 with a 52-40 win over Barker (2-4) and Newfane (4-2) bested Albion (1-5) 61-39.

Dan Brown took game high scoring honors with 20 and Lonnie Taylor added 11 to lead the Medina attack.

“We needed one to get some confidence back,” Medina coach Tom Forrestel said. “Hopefully we can use this as a springboard.”

Matt Baker scored 15, Kyle Bradley 11 and Emmett Dinse 10 for Wilson whih drops to 1-5.

Sparked by a burst of three threes by Thompson, Medina jumped out to a 13-6 first quarter lead.

Getting five points each from Brown and Taylor, the Mustangs used a 15-8 second quarter spurt to up the advantage to 28-14 at the half.

Brown then had a big burst of two three-point plays and a three on consecutive trips up the court to open the third period and the Mustangs went on to hold a 41-28 advantage at the thee-quarter mark.

Roy-Hart 52, Barker 40

MIDDLEPORT - Trailing by one, 36-35 at the three-quarter mark, Roy-Hart erupted for a big 17-4 fourth quarter scoring surge to defeat Barker 52-40.

Brad Bobbitt scored five points and Ryan Farewell and DaRon Woods four each to lead Roy-Hart’;s balanced attack down the stretch.

Farewell finished with 14, Blake Copella 13 and Bobbitt 11.

Jacob Haight tallied a game high 17, Mitch Luckman 13 and Chris Sweeney 10 to account for all of Barker’s points.

Roy-Hart led 14-7 after one quarter but Barker rallied into a narrow 26-25 advantage at the half.

The loss drops Barker to 2-4.

Alexander 59,

Lyndonville 39

ALEXANDER - Brandon Schoolcraft scored 17 points and Austin Bane 10 for Lyndonville in the Tigers 59-39 G-R loss to Alexander Friday.

Newfane 61, Albion 39

NEWFANE - Connor Sears had 27 points, 12 rebounds and five steals to spark Newfane to a 61-39 victory over Albion.

Reid Weber added 11 for Newfane which jumped out to 23-11 first quarter advantage. The Panthers went on to lead by margins of 37-23 at the half and 52-34 at the three-quarter mark.

Marquis Riddick scored 11 and Ryan Fannin 10 for Albion shich srops to 1-5.

CSAT 45, Akron 35

AKRON - Leading 22-15, CSAT put together a 16-6 third quarter scorig surge to key a 45-35 win over Akron.

Darnell Carson scored a game high 19 and Alex Santos 11 to set the pace for CSAT.

Austin Mietz scored15 for Akron.

Kendall 52, Holley 37

KENDALL - Dan Kelly scored 19 points, Mookie Nauden 11 and Garrett Love grabbed off 16 rebounds to lead Kendall past rival Holley 52-37 Friday in a Genesee Region League game.

Kyle Bell scored 15 and Will Barniak 11 for Holley.
