Medina Journal-Register — Putting together a big second half scoring surge the Medina Stallions downed the rival Medina Mustangs 6-1 Wednesday in the Genesee Youth Soccer League boys U19 Division season opener at Vets Park.
Trailing 1-0, the Stallions pulled even early in the second half on a goal by Brodie Fenton.
The Stallions then took the lead on an own goal and quickly upped the lead to 3-1 as Chris Horgan scored off an assist from Thomas Goetze.
The Stallions then pulled away on a burst of three straight goals by Goetze, the first of which was on a penalty kick.
The Mustangs grabbed the 1-0 lead on a first half goal by Steve Anderson.
Albion 4, Roy-Hart 2
ALBION — Sam Remley scored two goals and Markus Mrzywka and Jackson Hamilton each netted one to lead Albion to a season opening 4-2 victory over Roy-Hart Wednesday.
Remley, Mrzywka and Hamilton also each had an assist.
Albion was anchored by strong defense by Jon Poole, Trevor Hadick, Fran Rosario, Billy Andrews and Alex Bison.
