David R. Rodriguez, 76, of Albion, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Buffalo Veterans Hospital. Born in Puerto Rico on August 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Natalio and Dominga (Rodriguez) Rivera.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army from Puerto Rico, serving in the Korean War. Upon returning home, he married the former Aida Valle and together they raised two daughters. In 1956, they moved to the Rochester, NY area. He was employed with the former Lawyers Co-Op of Webster in the Maintenance Dept; retiring in 1977. He enjoyed walking everyday and watching the Military Channel.
David is survived by his former wife, Aida Valle; two daughters, Aixa (Jose) Rivera of Albion, Idalia (Jose) Morillo of Rochester; six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Carmen (Ayo) Cartright of Puerto Rico; a brother, Anival Rivera, all of Puerto Rico. He is predeceased by a brother, Quiqe Rodriguez; and a sister, Luz Rodriguez.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 11 AM - 1 PM at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, 12 Ingersoll St., Albion, NY, with a funeral service at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Albion Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made in David's name to Hospice of Orleans Co. or to Orleans Co. Veteran's Office.
