Carrie L. Robinson

The Journal-Register

Carrie L. Robinson, of Medina, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Robinson was born in Camilla, GA, January 28, 1924, a daughter of Anna Mae Fludie and the Rev. Henry Chatman.
She learned at a young age the meaning of hard work. At the age of ten, she began helping out with field work. During the Great Depression, her mother left for Ohio to find work and she saw her three times the rest of her life. Following high school graduation, she moved to Florida where she started a lifelong career as a caregiver and housekeeper. In 1944, she married Herman Robinson and they moved to Medina where he had relatives. He got a job with Frank J. Balcerzak & Son and she began working for the Balcerzak, Tuohey and Waters' families. Mr. Balcerzak was tearing down a house in Niagara Falls and he knew the Robinson's needed materials for a home they were building on Brown Avenue. By the goodness of Mr. Balcerzak, the Robinson's were able to erect their home, mortgage free. Carrie later worked for the Charles Slack Family for twenty-eight years, the Dollinger and Norris Webster Families and retired in 1988. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting and knitting and was a wonderful cook.
Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews, including Willie Ann Brown and Henry Byrd, and she looked upon the families she cared for over the years, and all their children, as her own. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Robinson.
Her Home Going Service will be held on Monday at 2 PM at the Glad Tidings Baptist Church, 404 West Oak Orchard Street, Medina, preceded by calling from 1-2 PM at the church. Interment will be in Boxwood Cemetery. Arrangements were completed by the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
Visit to share condolences.
