Carol Marie Schultz

MEDINA —  

Carol Marie Schultz, 68, passed away on November 9, 2012, with her family by her side and in her heart, at Medina Memorial Hospital. Carol had been battling lung cancer since March of 2012. Born in Albion, NY, on June 18, 1944, Carol was the daughter of the late Bertram J. and Nellie R. (Grimes) Young.
Carol graduated from Albion High School in 1962. She continued her education at SUNY Brockport, where she graduated with a degree in elementary education. Carol taught in Albion School District until marrying late husband Carl "Bill" Schultz on December 22, 1973 and moving to Shelby. In addition to four children of her own, Carol also provided a home and family for a number of foster children over the years. She was very involved at Jr. Wilson's Sportsman's Club where she served as the only female President. Carol loved camping with her boys, bowling, Sudoku and crossword puzzles. She loved animals and for many years raised Miniature Schnauzers for herself and others to enjoy. In her later years, Carol worked in merchandise marketing and display coordination.
Carol is survived by one brother, Earl (Marie) Young of Medina; a daughter, Tracie (Tom) Gadd of Attica; three sons, Brian Schultz of Knowlesville, Scott (April) Schultz of Medina and Andrew Schultz of Pendleton. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Abigail, Brittney, Michael, Spencer, Taylor, Emily, Carlee, Evie, Scott and Jackson. Carol is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Carol is predeceased by two brothers, Robert Young of Florida and David Young of Albion.
Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina. A memorial service will immediately follow, officiated by Pastor Randy Bell. Carol will be laid to rest next to her loving husband Bill at Bates Road Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Carol and her family respectfully request that memorials be made in her honor to Hospice of Orleans, P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY 14411.
