Marion L. George

MEDINA — Mrs. Marion L. George, of Medina, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Medina Memorial Hospital.

Marion was born in Medina on December 23, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Robert Bertie and Ella (Allen) Lacey. She graduated from Medina High School, class of 1940. On May 2, 1942, she married Kenneth E. George. They owned and operated a dairy farm on Marshall Road. As a farmer's wife, she picked cherries, planted vegetable and flower gardens, milked cows, and raised chickens to sell eggs. The saying, "the best things come in small packages" was an accurate description of Marion.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medina since March 26, 1937, serving as Deacon, church school teacher, Vice-President of the women's association, including secretary, kitchen, meals and sewing coordinators. She moved quietly ministering with a smile and helping hand. In addition to home, farm and church, she found time to volunteer and enjoyed her association with craft groups.

Survivors include four children, Roger (Kathie) George, Dennis (Lisa) George, Sam (Sue Ann) George and Debbie George Crandall; 15 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband on Feb. 12, 2009; and three sisters, Christine, Margaret and Junie. In her final years, her special companions were her kitties, Mama Kitty and Deedles.

Friends may call on Monday (3-5, 7-9) at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11AM. The Rev. Alfreda E.S. Morse will officiate and interment will be in West Ridgeway Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Medina.
