Norman J. DuBois, of Medina, went to be with our Lord, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at age 80. Norm was born in Ridgeway on November 11, 1933, a son of the late Jean E. and Ruth M. DuBois.
Norm served in the US Army from 1956-58 at the Nike Base in Cambria. He served in the US Air Defense Missile Force, Nike Ajax Batteries System "B" Program during the Cold War. The Army deployed 145 Nike Batteries ground guidance systems. 1956 marked the first successful Nike intercept of a drone aircraft. To Defend and Deter: The Legacy of the US Cold War Missile Program. He retired from ABEX 1981 and retired again from the Flagler Museum, Palm Beach, FL as head of the Building and Maintenance Department. Norm enjoyed renovating houses, woodworking, fishing, outdoor activities, hunting, attending flea markets, auctions and traveling to Florida. Norm was happily married to Beatrice Prentice DuBois for 58 years.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Cynthia (Rob) Robinson and Robin Weddington of Albion; four grandchildren, Dyana Krebs (Jeremy) Rollason Reynoldsburg, OH, K. Karl Krebs (Leslie) of Tallmadge, OH, Chelsea Weddington of Albion, Breyaunna Weddington (Stan) Maksimchuk of Greece, NY; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Joanie Wenner of Daytona, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Shelby Center Fire Hall, on Friday, February 14th at 2 PM for family and friends. Military honors will be accorded following the memorial service by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. A luncheon will be served to celebrate Norm's life.
