William D. Morgan, Jr.

GASPORT — William (Bill) D. Morgan, Jr., 65, lost his battle with cancer on November 23, 2013, at the home of his son, Travis Morgan of Gasport, NY.

Bill was born in Oliver Springs, TN on January 19, 1948. He was the oldest son of Ruby and William Morgan, Sr.

Bill enlisted in the Army in 1967 as a missile specialist. Subsequently he was stationed in Fort Bliss, TX; Lockport, NY; Swedesboro, NJ and   Kemper, Germany. He earned medals for       marksmanship. He served his country for seven years.  

He married Penny Kelkenberg in 1970. After leaving the service they resided in TN for a time, relocating to Texas and ultimately to Gasport, NY.

Bill enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest sharing his interest with his children and grandchildren. He loved the lake and exploring the shoreline with his grandchildren.

Bill was grateful for the support family and friends provided during his illness. Niagara       Hospice especially was instrumental in allowing him the comfort of being at home with his children and grandchildren during the last months of his life.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Penny (Kelkenberg); sons, Michael Shawn (Crystal) and Dan Travis (Sarah Adams); grandchildren, Skylar, Kaeden, Madison, Jaiden and Bradon. Also by his mother, Ruby; siblings, Barbara, Debbie, Michael, Susan, Michelle and Daniel; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William Sr. and his sister, Marcella.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on March 1, 2014, at Canal side, 210 Market Street, Lockport, in the meeting room from 1:00-4:00 PM.  A buffet lunch will be served. Please contact a family member for more information. Bill's final resting place will be in Oak Ridge, TN. Memorial donations in memory of Bill can be made to Niagara Hospice (
